Title: CHERUB: The Recruit
Author: Robert Muchamore
Pages: 339
Source: Kindle (though I borrowed my brother's Paperback copy for the photography!)
When 11 year old James Choke's mum dies, he finds himself whisked away into the world of CHERUB: an association that uses children to help save the world. In this first book of the CHERUB series, James goes through 100 days of horror, a.k.a basic training, and goes on his first mission.
Despite it not fitting inside my usual reading genres, I really enjoyed this book. It could be written in a more advanced way, but the writing style improves as the book goes on. My biggest complaint is that none of the characters are particularly likeable. James is the biggest idiot I've ever read about, and his friends are just as, um, charming.
They've got a really gripping plot though, and are a really fun, light read.
